The first step is to decide which method of video chatting you would like to use and install it on your phone: FaceTime, Skype, Google Duo, WhatsApp, or Facebook Messenger. Be sure to know your username.
Before starting a video service call, there are a few things to have in order so that you get the most out of your time.
- Clear enough space so that you have access across the length of the door, especially the corners where the safety eye sensors are.
- Make sure that the area has as much lighting as possible.
- If possible, have a flashlight with you.
- Have a ladder handy so that it is ready to go in case we need to access the controls on the side of the opener motor.
- Have a clear idea of when your door does and does not work. Is this a closing problem or an opening problem, or both?
- If you have remote controls that need to be programmed, have them out of their packaging and ready to go. If it is an older remote be sure it has a fresh battery.
- If you have a keypad that needs to be programmed, make sure it has a fresh battery. It may be easier to program holding it in your hand than if it is already attached to the outside of your house, so hold off on putting it up until afterwards.
- If you have either a remote or keypad that needs to be programmed, see if you can locate the “learn” button on the opener motor. On Genie, Overhead Door openers it is probably behind a light cover that needs to be removed with a screwdriver, so it will save time to do that in advance. This is sometimes true on other brands as well so it is good to check before your consultation starts.
